Lester Sola - Director
Lester Sola was appointed Director of the Internal Services Department on October of 2011. The Internal Services Department is responsible for the Procurement of Goods and Services, Architectural and Engineering selection, Capital Improvements, Design and Construction, Facilities and Fleet Management, Risk Management, Human Resources and Employee Benefits. Mr. Sola oversees an operating budget of $370 million and a capital budget of $81 million and manages over 1,000 employees.
Prior to his appointment to the Internal Services Department, Mr. Sola was the Supervisor of Elections for Miami-Dade County. He managed the busiest Elections Department in the state of Florida conducting over 220 elections during his tenure. He was responsible for the largest voter population in Florida with more than one million registered voters and managed as many as 811 precincts and 10,000 Poll Workers on Election Day.
Mr. Sola began his career with Miami-Dade County Government in 1992 as a member of the County Manager Management Training Program. He has held several high-level positions including: Contract Coordination Officer in the County Manager's Office, Architectural and Engineering Consultant Coordinator for the County Manager's Office, Division Director for the Department of Business Development, Assistant to the County Manager, Associate Director for the Aviation Department, Deputy Director for the Department of Business Development, Chief Deputy Supervisor of Elections and Supervisor of Elections.
During his career with Miami-Dade County, Mr. Sola has been responsible for the reorganization of several county departments; coordination and refocusing of the capital program at Miami International Airport; the establishment of small and minority-based programs for the procurement of goods and services; establishment of centralized systems for the tracking of County capital expansion programs and professional services; the provision of management direction to County Departments, offices, Management Agreements and agencies (Aviation, Seaport, Beacon Council, Performing Arts Center, American Airlines Arena).
