Gregg Fortner - Director
Public Housing and Community Development
Gregg Fortner has over two decades of experience working at various public housing authorities. Prior to his appointment as Executive Director of Miami-Dade's Public Housing Agency in July of 2009, Mr. Fortner served as Deputy Executive Director/Chief Administrative Officer for the Oakland Housing Authority and Executive Director for the San Francisco Housing Authority.
In San Francisco, Mr. Fortner oversaw the management, maintenance, modernization, development and resident services for public housing as well as for the administration and operation of its Section 8 programs.
He is credited with successfully leading the effort to complete several public housing communities redeveloped through the HOPE VI program. The North Beach Place, a HOPE VI development won the best mixed-use category in the 2002 and 2005 Deals of the Year award by the San Francisco Business Times.
In addition, Valencia Gardens was the recipient of HUD's Secretary Housing and Community Design Award for excellence in residential housing design.
Mr. Fortner also held numerous management and administrative positions at Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency and the Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles and the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles.
As Executive Director of the Miami-Dade Public Housing Agency, Mr. Fortner will manage one of the largest housing authorities in the nation. He works closely with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, and other County departments and affordable housing entities to provide high quality, affordable housing opportunities to low-and moderate income working families, individuals and elderly in our community.
