Lester Sola, Supervisor of Elections

Supervisor of Elections Lester Sola oversees one of the busiest Elections Departments in Florida overseeing multiple city and municipal elections as well as County Elections.  He is responsible for one of the largest voter populations in Florida with more than one million registered voters and manages as many as 764 precincts on Election Day.

Mr. Sola began his career with Miami-Dade County Government more than 16 years ago.  In 1992, he joined the County as a member of the County Manager Management Training Program.  He has held several high-level positions including:  Contract Coordination Officer in the County Manager's Office, Architectural and Engineering Consultant Coordinator for the County Manager's Office, Division Director for the Department of Business Development, Assistant to the County Manager, Deputy Director for the Department of Business Development, Chief Deputy Supervisor of Elections, and he was appointed Supervisor of Elections on March 31, 2005.

During his career with Miami-Dade County, Mr. Sola has been responsible for the coordination and refocusing of the capital program at Miami International Airport; the establishment of small- and minority-based programs for the procurement of goods and services; establishment of centralized systems for the tracking of County capital expansion programs and professional services; the provision of management direction to County Departments (Aviation, Seaport, Performing Arts Center, American Airlines Arena); and the reorganization and transition of several high-level positions.

As the Supervisor of Elections, he currently serves as the department director and manages a staff of 120 full-time and up to 450 seasonal positions with an annual operating budget of $24 million.  He has been involved in elections since 1992 serving as an Election Day troubleshooter.  He serves on the Florida Voter Registration System, Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail and Get out the Vote committees. 

Mr. Sola has a Master's Degree and Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration with a minor in organizational psychology from Florida International University.

Mr. Sola is married to Ana Maria and they have three (3) children: Alex, Gabriela, Michelle.
