GOB Supports Expanding Health Care Facilities At University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center...
The GOB is contributing funds to support the expansion of facilities operated by the Jackson Health System and the University of Miami School of Medicine (UM). One of the largest projects is the expansion of Jackson South Community Hospital which will double in size over the next several years to meet the growing needs of South Miami-Dade residents. The expansion includes both a new wing and renovation of existing facilities. Bond money is also supporting a new facility for the UM Ear Institute, an international center for research, education and clinical services for the treatment of ear diseases of the ear and related disorders.
Other Jackson projects include renovations to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at JMH’s Holtz Children’s Hospital. The new 30-room pediatric unit is designed to help parents play a more active role in their child’s treatment and recovery. Bond funds will also support upgrades to JMH’s radiology facilities.
