Building Notice
Sanitary Sewer Allocation Expiration
Please be reminded that if your project was issued a Sanitary Sewer Capacity Certification (a.k.a. Sanitary Sewer Allocation) by the Miami-Dade County Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) and your construction permit is allowed to expire, the Sanitary Sewer Allocation for the project will also expire at the same time.
This allocation, which is required for permitting by the Federal EPA Consent Decree, is subject to the availability of capacity in the sanitary sewer basin where the project is located. This capacity changes over time, and may not be available when you go to renew your expired construction permit.
In that event, it may be impossible for you to renew the construction permit, or the renewal may be subject to a qualification that the property may only be placed into service after the conditions limiting the available capacity have been remedied. This remedy may take up to five years in accordance with the federal EPA Consent Decree, and completion of your project may bedelayed during this period.
If you have any questions concerning your project’s Sanitary Sewer Allocation, or if you are not certain if your project was issued a Sanitary Sewer Allocation, please contact an engineer with the DERM Water & Wastewater Section by calling 786-315-2800 or by e-mail at PSO@miamidade.gov .
