Extension to host Pest Management Workshop in Spanish

(MIAMI, March 9, 2012) – The Miami-Dade Cooperative Extension Division is hosting a workshop on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the auditorium of the Miami-Dade Cooperative Extension office, located at 18710 SW 288 Street in Homestead, Florida.

The objective of the workshop is to educate the Hispanic population on the ins and outs of pest management including identifying insects in order to be able to apply the proper insecticides.  During the hot summer months, pest damage symptoms become more obvious.  Experts on this topic will teach landscape and nursery growers how to identify insect pests, how to protect and/or suppress insect population, and how, when, and where to submit insect samples.

The workshop registration fee is $15 and includes lunch.  To make your reservation now, call (305) 248-3311, ext. 225.  You can also obtain additional information on the workshop by visiting http://miami-dade.ifas.ufl.edu, or you can register online here.

The Miami-Dade Cooperative Extension is a partnership of the  Sustainability, Planning and Economic Enhancement Department and the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences.
