Miami-Dade County in partnership with the Dade County Bar Association host Residential Landlord-Tenant Law Seminar

(MIAMI, April 23, 2013) – Miami-Dade County’s Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources Business Affairs Division, Consumer Protection, in partnership with the Dade County Bar Association County Court Committee, will host a seminar on Landlord–Tenant Law, Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The seminar will be held at the West Kendall Regional Library, located at 10201 Hammocks Blvd, Miami, FL. Reservations are required prior to the event.

The seminar is designed to educate landlords, property managers, tenants and lawyers about the nuts and bolts of a lease and the procedures involved in an eviction process. Handout materials will be provided. Jeffrey Hearne of Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc., private attorney Michael Birnholz, and Miami-Dade County Consumer Advocate Leonard Elias will provide an overview of the landlord-tenant law to help landlords and tenants understand their rights and responsibilities.

“Landlord Tenant disputes can easily escalate into high priced legal action” stated, Consumer Advocate Leonard Elias, Esq. “These legal expenses can be minimized, if not avoided, when landlords and tenants know their rights and responsibilities under the law.”

This event is open to the public at a minimal cost of $10.00 to cover seminar materials. Attorneys desiring to attend must register through the Dade County Bar Association to receive two (2) continuing legal education credits. DCBA Attorneys must pay $20.00 and Non-DCBA Attorney fees are $30.00 to attend the seminar.

Note: If you are not an attorney and wish to attend you must call the Consumer Protection Mediation Center to RSVP at 305-375-3677.
