Farmers market on November 21 at the Stephen P. Clark Center to celebrate Farm City Week

(MIAMI, November 18, 2013) – Miami-Dade County Agricultural Manager Charles LaPradd will host a Farmers Market to celebrate National Farm City Week on Thursday, November 21, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Stephen P. Clark Center Lobby, 111 NW 1st Street, in Miami. Farm City Week is dedicated to enhancing the links between farm families and urban residents.

Miami-Dade County’s Agricultural industry ranks among the top three industries for the County and second in the State of Florida, and is one of the most diverse in the country.  Miami-Dade County’s tropical climate provides a year-round growing season, as well as the ability to produce an extremely wide range of crops.

A great way to experience locally grown products is to visit a fresh farmers’ market.  The Farm City Week Farmers Market will have local growers on hand with fruits, vegetables, honey and plants as well as educational displays from the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, Dade County Farm Bureau and the Miami-Dade County Cooperative Extension Office.
