Miami-Dade Cooperative Extension/University of Florida/IFAS to host a Cold Weather Protection Workshop for agriculture
(MIAMI, December 12, 2013) – Miami-Dade County’s Cooperative Extension in partnership with the University of Florida/IFAS has collaborated with the National Weather Service (NWS) to host a 2013-2014 Cold Weather Protection workshop for agricultural operations in South Florida.
Extension staff together with guest speaker NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist Mr. Robert Molleda will provide an overview to growers and allied partners on the latest winter projections and best management practices for tackling winter freeze damage and how to protect fruit groves, vegetable farms and ornamental nurseries from severe cold damage.
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the John D. Campbell Agricultural Center Auditorium (Extension Office) located at 18710 SW 288 Street, Homestead, Florida 33030.
