Miami-Dade County Cooperative Extension to host Biological Control and Integrated Pest Management workshop
(MIAMI, October 2, 2014) – The Miami-Dade County Cooperative Extension office is hosting a workshop to update gardeners, nursery growers, landscapers, pest control companies, horticultural consultants, and interested individuals about the application of natural enemies such as ladybugs or lacewings and other predators or parasitoids as an alternative to chemicals in plant pest management. We will have scientists bringing live samples, South Floridian' testimonies of their success using biological agents and the producer’s demonstration of some of their products and uses to interact and ask questions. This is a great opportunity to learn about good bugs and how they are used for controlling insect pests.
The workshop will be held, Thursday, October 16, 2014, from 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; at the Miami-Dade County Cooperative Extension Office Auditorium, located in Homestead, Florida. Course, materials, refreshments, lunch and FNGLA or FDACS Continuing Educational Units (CEUs) will be provided.
Participants interested in attending this workshop must pre-register Online Registration at: http://biologicalcontrolandipm2014.eventbrite.com/
