Miami-Dade County Consumer Protection will host a FREE Small Claims Court Clinic at the Roberto Alonso Community Center

(MIAMI, October 2, 2014) – The Miami-Dade County Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (RER), Office of Consumer Protection will host a FREE Small Claims Court Clinic on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. The upcoming Small Claims Clinic will be held at the Roberto Alonso Community Center promptly at 12 Noon. Participants will receive hands-on instructions and assistance in learning how to file a claim in Small Claims Court.

Providing the public with the education and overall understanding of the various processes involved in filing a small claims court action is spearheaded by the department’s Office of Consumer Protection Division Chief, Gregory Baker. Clinic attendees will receive a comprehensive overview of the mechanics for filing a small claims action as well as learn about the process and methods for filing court documents. At the end of the session, participants will also be allotted time for a “Q & A.

The County’s small claims court process is utilized by individuals that seek to address disputes involving $5,000 or less without the costly burden of having to hire an attorney to seek redress.
