Rental Car Companies
Rental car agencies must comply with laws that:
- Prohibit affixing bumper stickers or insignia identifying a vehicle as a rental;
- Require car fuel tanks to be at least half-full when provided to a renter.
For visitors with children age 5 or younger, state law requires the use of a federally-approved, crash-tested child restraint device.
Rental car facilities must make them available for rent, with a notice at the facility or as part of the rental car agreement providing details and costs.
Facilities must provide information to drivers about renting a SunPass to process toll charges on Miami-Dade roads, including any administrative cost.
If you decline renting a SunPass, you are still responsible for paying the tolls and related administrative fees.
SunPass-related fees must be visibly posted in the facilities. Visit your rental car company website or SunPass for more information.
Visitor Information Maps and Safety Tips
Facilities must provide a visitor information map and safety tips in six languages, using Miami-Dade County standards, and a signed or initialed acknowledgement form from each renter; or a posted notice of the availability of an information map.
