Kesnel Mars awarded Chauffeur of the Quarter

(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- The Sustainability, Planning, and Economic Enhancement Department’s (SPEED) For-Hire Passenger Transportation Division presented Mr. Kesnel Mars with the Chauffeur of the Quarter Award on Thursday, March 29, 2012. Mr. Mars was recognized for going beyond the call of duty and returning a purse to a passenger.

The passenger wrote to the For-Hire Passenger Transportation Division, “I wanted to write to highly commend Mr. Kesnel Mars for his honesty and kindness in returning to me today my purse which I had left behind in the taxi from the airport to my home on Venetian Causeway.  Not only was the driver honest, thoughtful and compassionate, but courteous. He is someone who should be held in the highest esteem.”

The Taxicab Driver Incentive Program was created in 1998 to reward chauffeurs who provide excellent service.  It is administered by the Sustainability, Planning, and Economic Enhancement Department’s For-Hire Transportation Division, which licenses and regulates taxicabs. Nominations are submitted by taxicab passengers, hotel and other travel industry representatives and other drivers.  Recipients receive a plaque and a monetary award.  At the end of the year, a Chauffeur of the Year is selected from among the four (4) quarterly winners.  The Chauffeur of the Year receives a $2,500 award.
