UF-IFAS/Miami-Dade County Extension Offers Farm Labor Supervisor Trainings in Spanish


(MIAMI, September 6, 2012) - The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF-IFAS) in partnership with Miami-Dade County’s Cooperative Extension Service is hosting a Farm Labor Supervisor Basic Training Course in Spanish on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the John D. Campbell Agricultural Center Auditorium located in Homestead, Florida.
The course will be taught in Spanish and will count with the participation of several instructors from other counties.  In addition, Federal Wage and Hour consultants will be available to answer questions from the audience. 

Topics to be discussed include Wage and Hours, Human Resources Compliance, Basic Worker Protection Standards, Field Sanitation, and Safety Driving.  The topics will be broken down into four sessions as follows:

Session 1: Wage and Hour
Session 2: HR Compliance
Session 3: WPS (basic worker protection standard) and field sanitation
Session 4: Safety driving

Each session is $10.00. If you wish to attend all four sessions the cost is $40.00.
