Florida Friendly Landscaping Class


(MIAMI, March 14, 2013) – The Miami-Dade County Cooperative Extension Florida Yards & Neighborhoods program is hosting a FREE Florida Friendly Landscape Class on Saturday March 23, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Deering Estate at Cutler, 16701 S.W. 72nd Ave, in Miami, Florida. 

During the workshop participants will learn the nine (9) principals of creating and maintaining a Florida-Friendly Landscape in their backyard. In addition, they will learn efficient irrigation watering and rain water harvesting with the use of rain barrels to collect rainwater for use during dry months. Shower head and light bulb exchange will be available. This class is made possible thanks to Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department.

The rain barrels will be available for purchase at a cost of $40.00. If you’re interested in getting your own rain barrel after the class please make check or money order payable to: Miami-Dade Extension Program Account. We will not accept credit card or cash payments.

The workshop will be taught by Miami-Dade County Florida yards & Neighborhoods Extension Agent Guillermo Salazar in collaboration with Miami Dade County Master Gardener Volunteers.
