Youth Fishing Clinic

Have fun in the sun and learn how to get involved in the Key Biscayne Citizen Scientist Project

(MIAMI, March 14, 2013) Join Miami-Dade Cooperative Extension as they help kick-off the Key Biscayne Citizen Scientist Project with a youth fishing clinic on Sunday, April 7th from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Bill Baggs State Park, 1200 S. Crandon Boulevard, Key Biscayne.

The Youth Fishing Clinic is designed to create responsible marine resource stewards by teaching children about Florida's marine ecosystems. Kids will learn about the animals that live in our marine environment, how to tie a knot and bait a hook, fishing regulations, proper casting and release techniques. Most importantly, this event will serve as a way for the community to learn more about becoming a Citizen Scientist.

Following the clinic, your child will be provided a pole and bait and will be able to fish from the shore. Adult supervision is required. Clinic is open to all children age 6 and older.

Participants will have free entry into the park. Space is limited, so if you would like your child to attend the clinic, please RSVP at http://fishingclinic.eventbrite.com.
