The Miami-Dade County Cooperative Extension Florida Yards & Neighborhoods program will host a free class on Easy and Colorful Florida Friendly Plants


(MIAMI, July 8th, 2013) – The Miami-Dade County Cooperative Extension Florida Yards & Neighborhoods program will host a FREE "Easy and Colorful Florida Friendly Plant" class on Saturday, July 13 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Golden Glades Library Branch located at 100 NE 166 St, Miami, FL 33162

County Extension Agent and Program Administrator Guillermo Salazar of the County’s Florida Yards & Neighborhood Program will teach participants the best Florida Friendly plant choices for South Florida gardening. Workshop participants will learn: the easiest and most colorful plant types growing in South Florida; and, how to implement Florida Friendly Landscape techniques to aid in becoming a successful Florida Gardener. Available free to participants are Florida friendly plants. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to exchange old showerheads and light bulbs to more efficient ones as part of the water conservation efforts of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department.
