Miami-Dade County Cooperative Extension will host a Florida Friendly Veggies Herbs Class on Low Water & Maintenance Proficient Herbs


(MIAMI, August 14, 2013) – The Miami-Dade County Cooperative Extension Florida Yards & Neighborhoods Program will host a FREE Florida Friendly Veggies & Herbs Class on Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The class will be held at the South Dade Regional Library located at 10750 SW 211 Street, Miami, Florida 33189.

Class attendee’s will learn about low water – low maintenance Florida Friendly herbs and vegetable types that will thrive in South Florida landscapes. Attendees will receive free herb and vegetable plant sampling and can exchange old shower head and light bulbs for newer efficient ones. Remember to please bring in old shower head and light bulbs for exchange. The department is pleased to advise, funding is possible through a partnership with Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department.

County Extension Agent Guillermo Salazar and program administer of the Florida Yards & Neighborhoods Program will collaborate teaching skills with members of the Miami-Dade County Master Gardener Volunteers.
