
Community Action Agency provides residents with the opportunity to advocate for change in their respective neighborhood through its Citizen Participation Program. The program assists residents in sixteen 16) communities throughout Miami-Dade County in playing an active role in improving their neighborhoods. Residents participate in Community Advisory Committees (CAC) that provides input on social and economic issues facing their community and develop strategies on correcting these issues. Issues identified at the community level are forwarded to the CC Board of Directors for resolution or passed on teh the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners for final action. The program provides a valuable mechanism for communication between citizens and decision-making entities and ensures that local residents are involved in the planning and development of activities for their neighborhoods.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Community Advisory Committees award an annual scholarship in teh amount of $1,500 to an individual from their target area who is currently enrolled in a college or vocational program, or has plans to attend college or a vocational school in teh coming Fall. This scholarship initiative was developed to provide financial support to assist individuals from the communites served by the CAC an opportunity to attain their educational goals. The scholarship is open to individuals between the ages of 16-25 years old. To apply, please complete the Application Package and return it to the CAC Staff representative no later than May 1, 2009.
