The OCED Empowerment Zone Initiative has monthly Neighborhood Assembly (NA) meetings. Eight separate boards, representing local Federal Empowerment Zones (EZ), of interested residents and business owners make economic development funding recommendations. The EZ includes 8 areas: Liberty City/Model City, Overtown, Melrose, East Little Havana, Wynwood, Allapattah/Civic Center, Florida City and Homestead, in addition to 3 developable sites, Northside/Poinciana, Opa-Locka, and Homestead/Florida City. |

The Empowerment Zone Advisory Board (EZAB) reviews economic development funding recommendations made by each of the 8 Neighborhood Assemblies (NA) from their respective Federal Empowerment Zone. The EZAB's recommendations are then forwarded on to the Board of County Commissioners for final approval. |
