Miami-Dade County's Charter Review Task Force to Meet on Wednesday, August 1, 2007

 


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Miami-Dade County’s Charter Review Task Force will meet to discuss the Home Rule Charter on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. at 101 W. Flagler St. in the 1st floor auditorium.  The Task Force will hear reports from the County Attorney’s Office, the County Manager’s Office and the Charter Review Task Force Chairman Victor M. Diaz, Jr.  They will also prioritize discussion of Charter Review issues.

The Miami-Dade County Home Rule Charter was adopted in 1957 essentially becoming the "constitution" for Miami-Dade County. Section 9.08 of the Home Rule Charter requires that the Board review the Charter at least once every five-year period to determine whether or not there is a need for revision of the Charter.
