Charter Review Task Force
To fulfill its obligation under the Charter, on April 24, 2007, the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution R-462-07 creating a Charter Review Task Force. The Task Force was comprised of 21 members including the Mayor and each Board member or his/her designee, as well as designees from the four largest municipalities and three from the Miami-Dade League of Cities. The Chair of the Task Force was selected by the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners.
The Task Force was charged with reviewing the Charter and submitting to the Board of County Commissioners recommendations setting forth any proposed amendments or revisions to the Charter. The Task Force adopted 15 issues of study during this Charter Review process, and encouraged public input.
The Initial Report
of the Charter Review Task Force was provided to the Board of County Commissioners on October 31, 2007, and the Final Report
of the Charter Review Task Force was provided to the Board of County Commissioners on January 29, 2008.
In conducting its Charter Review, the Task Force:
- Studied the Final Report of the Charter Review Task Force dated July 10, 2001

Invited knowledgeable members of the community to appear and make recommendations

Conducted public hearings at various stages in the review process.
Proceedings of the Task Force were conducted in accordance with the Government in the Sunshine Law (FS 286.011) and the Citizens' Bill of Rights of the Miami-Dade County Home Rule Charter.
