Joint Meetings and Minutes

Joint Meetings are held between the Board of County Commissioners ("Board) and other governmental entities that govern mutual areas of responsibility such as land use planning, transportation, public hospitals and health facilities, and other interdependent functions requiring joint legislative policy and decision-making.

Minutes maintained by the Clerk of the Board under this category include Joint meetings between the Board and the Public Health Trust; and the Board and the Miami-Dade County School Board.

The Board and the Public Health Trust (PHT) hold joint meetings annually pursuant to Chapter 25A of the Code, which requires that such meetings be scheduled at the discretion of the Board's Chairperson.

The primary purpose of these meetings is to present the Trust's annual report and recommendations for health care delivery by Jackson Health System. The annual report must be presented to the County Commission no later than July 1st of each year.

The Board and the Miami-Dade County School Board govern mutual areas of responsibility including land use planning, joint legislative policy, public safety, and other interrelated functions.

Dialogue and collaboration between the two bodies are necessary for optimal efficiency and to ensure that resources are distributed to satisfy mutual goals and needs.
