The Office of Community Advocacy (OCAD) was established to meet its unique community needs, through various events and initiatives, OCAD promotes productive community relations and cultural understanding for a better quality of life for all County residents.
A division of the Office of the Chair, the Office of Community Advocacy consists of six advisory boards.
Asian-American Advisory Board
The Asian-American Advisory Board (AAAB) was created to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners, the County Administration, the community, and all agencies and persons in Miami-Dade County, Florida, with respect to matters pertaining to the Asian community of Miami-Dade County.
Black Affairs Advisory Board
The Black Affairs Advisory Board exists to advocate for the social, economic, political and educational needs of the diverse Black World Community in Miami-Dade County, while advancing the quality of life for these residents in a dedicated and responsive manner.
Commission For Women
The Commission for Women is an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners, the County Administration and the public at large about issues pertaining to the status of women. The Commission for Women also advocates for the women in the community and strives to improve their quality of life.
Community Relations Board
The primary mission of the Community Relations Board is to intervene and contain community tensions, as quickly as possible.
Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board
The Miami-Dade County Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board (HAAB) serves to improve the quality of life of Hispanic citizens – to identify and monitor the needs and/or interests of Hispanic citizens, develop programs addressing such issues, encourage involvement of Hispanics in matters of community concerns, support the development of Hispanics in leadership roles, and recommend to the Board of County Commissioners legislation supporting Hispanic issues.
Military Affairs Board
