The Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department recognizes the constitutional rights of inmates to worship and practice the faith of their choice and extends the greatest amount of freedom and opportunity for pursuing individual faith beliefs and practices. The Chaplaincy Services Unit exists to extend opportunities for rehabilitation to inmates based on their faith.

The  Chaplaincy Services Unit is responsible for assisting all inmates with spiritual concerns and needs, and provide inmates opportunities to learn more about their personal faith belief systems. We accomplish this goal through the Volunteer Chaplains Program, spiritual counseling and faith based services, mentoring programs, and the Faith Works Re-entry Program.

The Chaplaincy Services Unit recruits and utilizes volunteers to assist the departmental chaplains in reaching the goals of the Unit within each incarcerated setting. It is the ongoing purpose of the Unit to make available, faith based programming to all that are in the care, custody, and control of the Miami Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department.
