The Training Bureau operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. The Bureau has four facets:

Administration, which includes the Captain, the Executive Lieutenant, the Administrative Corporal, the Accreditation Officer, the CIT Officer, the Training Specialists, the Computer Instructor, the Administrative Secretary, and the Clerk.

The In-Service Training Staff, which includes the In-Service Training Sergeant, the Corporal, and all facility training officers assigned to each facility/shift.

The Academy Staff, which includes the Academy Lieutenant, the Academy Sergeant, the Academy Corporal, the Curriculum Officers, and the Training Advisors.

The Practical Applications Unit, which includes the Firearms Sergeant, the Corporal, and the department Armorer.
The Training Bureau is responsible for the creation, implementation, dissemination, and instruction of all training related to all aspects of the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department. This includes the Mandatory In-Service Training that is required for all sworn staff to maintain their correctional officer certification, as well as training for all staff assigned to accredited facilities. The Training Bureau is also responsible for conducting orientation training, basic training, supervisor training, computer training, train-the-trainer and instructor training.
The Training Bureau conducts training on-site at all facilities, in the classroom, in the field, through workbooks, and through on-line websites. The bureau is also responsible for maintaining training records on every employee in the department (both on hard copy and in the New Train Database). The bureau additionally processes all local training seminar requests for all departmental employees.
The Training Bureau staff also responds to the Office of Emergency Management whenever there is an activation of the Emergency Operations Center due to a Hurricane/Tropical Storm Warning, a Turkey Point Nuclear Reactor event, or whenever requested by the O.E.M. Public Safety Coordinator.
