The Policy and Planning Bureau (PPB) is comprised of two units: Policy Development Unit (PDU),
and Research, Evaluation, and Data Management (RED) Unit. PPB is responsible for providing
analytical expertise in the coordination, development, and review of departmental policies and
procedures for compliance with national, state and county legislation, and accreditation standards.
In addition, PPB is responsible for the researching and benchmarking of correctional related topics;
maintaining, collecting, and analyzing statistical information; preparing grant applications and various
reports; coordinating departmental Active Strategy Enterprise (ASE) Scorecard and Business Plan
activities; managing the Primary Indicator Report (PIR) network; updating the Continuity of
Operations Plan (COOP) and the Departmental Telephone Directory; preparing briefing summaries
and legislative analysis for Board of County Commissioners and Commission Committees’ agendas.
