Personnel Bureau
The Personnel Bureau staffs the Department with sworn and non-sworn employees, handles payroll, insurance, monitors leave usage, employment benefits, insurance and retirement programs and background investigations. The Personnel Bureau also coordinates, handles and tracks all activities related to the Departments Shift Bid System.
Training Bureau
The Training Bureau is responsible for the overall planning, development and implementation of training programs throughout the Department. Provides Basic Correctional Training Academy, in-service training, facility field training officers program, career development, civilian and executive training.
Planning & Research Bureau
The Planning & Research Bureau is responsible for coordinating, developing and reviewing all Departmental policies and procedures for compliance with national, state, county and Departmental standards. Analyzes, evaluates and develops administrative procedures to promote efficiency and effectiveness with all Departmental activities. Publishes and organizes the Departmental Manual. The Planning & Research Bureau also prepares the Department's Overtime Report, Strategic Planning Report, Annual Report, multi-year performance reports and maintains the Corrections Library. The Bureau ensures compliance with standards set forth by the American Correctional Association, Commission for Accreditation (where applicable), coordinates Mutual Aid Agreements for matters impacting the Department and manages Departmental participation in the Dade County Employee Suggestion Program. The Bureau conducts analyses of products, technology and processes to promote efficiency and reduce costs.
Fiscal Management Bureau
The Fiscal Management Bureau is responsible for department-wide procurement activities, preparing and maintaining records to ensure timely processing of all purchase requests and invoices, contract monitoring, including the inmate accounting system.
Information Systems Bureau
The Information Systems Bureau is responsible for the department-wide identification, development, and implementation of new technologies suitable for the correctional environment in the most cost-effective manner.
Facilities Management Bureau
The Facilities Management Bureau is responsible for all maintenance, repairs and renovations to the physical plant of the County's seven (7) correctional facilities and for the pickup, washing, drying and delivery of inmate linen and uniforms.
Budget & Grants Bureau
The Budget and Grants Management Bureau is responsible for the preparation of, and ongoing monitoring of the Department's annual capital and operating budgets. The Bureau also has the responsibility of seeking supplemental funding through various grants and financial awards to cover unbudgeted expenditures and ensure that the Department's goals and objectives are met.
