(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- The Miami-Dade County Consumer Services Department is teaming up with Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Florida Learn & Serve to present an informative and stimulating program in commemoration of National Consumer Protection Week (February 4 - 10, 2007).
The theme of this year's event is "Read Up and Reach Out: Be an Informed Consumer."
The event will feature Miami-Dade County Consumer Advocate Leonard Elias who will interact with members of the audience in the form of a game show focusing on hot consumer topics. As the game is played, Mr. Elias will elaborate on specific consumer rights. The goal of the event is to help people to make well-informed decisions and educate consumers on how to recognize a scam. The audience will then be challenged to report rip-offs to the Miami-Dade Consumer Services Department.
