Visibility of For-Hire Numbers on Taxicabs |
Dear Valued Customers:
It is important to the Consumer Services Department (CSD) that the for-hire license (FHL) numbers are easily seen from all sides of the vehicle. In October 2007 the CSD required the addition of the for-hire number on the rear window of all taxicabs.
As part of our continuing effort to improve the visibility of FHL numbers on the rear of taxis, beginning August 1, 2009, FHL numbers located on the trunk of new taxis and taxis that are to be repainted shall be placed so that they are plainly visible from a reasonable distance behind the taxi. The FHL numbers are to be located near the top of the trunk lip, higher than the license plate. If there is not enough space on the lip of the trunk, the numbers may be placed on the rear bumper.
Please keep in mind that FHL numbers on the rear of the vehicle must be at least four (4) inches high with contrasting colors (ex: black on yellow or yellow on black). The FHL number located on the upper left hand corner of the rear window will not change location.
Thank you for your expected cooperation with the implementation of this policy. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please feel free to contact David Mattison, Vehicle Inspection Manager 305-638-6051.
