    To: All For-Hire Limousine Operators
    From:  Joe Mora, Director
    Passenger Transportation Regulatory Division
    Re:  Annual Limousine License Renewal

    Dear Valued Customers:

In response to concerns regarding current economic conditions in the for-hire industry, the Consumer Services Department will be extending the deadline to renew limousine licenses until July 31, 2009.  Temporary operating decals will not be issued.  Operating decals with the expiration date of April 30, 2009 will be valid through July 31, 2009.  Licenses not renewed on or before July 31, 2009 will be deemed expired.

In accordance with Chapter 31, Section 31-602 (i) of the Code of Miami-Dade County, license holders shall have a grace period of up to thirty (30) days after the expiration of their license in which to renew.  However, all operations must cease on the date of license expiration and the license holder shall pay a late fee of $550 over and above the annual license fee.  All for hire licenses which have not been renewed on or before thirty (30) days after their expiration shall automatically be deemed revoked.

Companies are encouraged to stagger the renewal of licenses throughout the 90-day extension period and avoid waiting until the last days of July to renew.  Appointments can be scheduled Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.  Contact Pedro Orelle at (305) 375-4627 to schedule an appointment to renew your permits.

Please note that due to the amount of time required to process renewal applications, no renewal application will be processed after 4:00 PM.

    Thank you for your cooperation,
