Consumer Wise
Booking Travel Packages

With summer rolling around and students getting ready to take a long reprieve from school, many parents are planning their summer getaways. Promises of "free vacations" and other "bargain" travel deals are tempting, especially in these hard economic times. Travel offers may come in the form of a phone call, a letter, an unsolicited fax, an email, a postcard or the Internet. While some of these sales calls are legitimate, many are scams that defraud consumers out of millions of dollars each month. You may never get your "bargain" trip because your reservations may not be confirmed or you are tied to hard-to-meet hidden or expensive conditions.
