This permit is needed to establish a framework of conditions, general and specific, by which to design, construct and operate facilities in a manner that protects human health and the environment.

This permit is required under Chapter 24-35. 1(7), Miami-Dade County Code, for facilities that receive, store, or process Biomedical Waste.

• A Certificate of Use and Occupancy from the Miami-Dade County Department of Planning & Zoning or Municipal Zoning.
• A Class VI Stormwater Drainage Permit application and determination from DERM’s Water Control Section.
• An Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) from Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection may also be needed.
• Approval from the Department of Solid Waste Management.

Permits are valid for one (1) year and renewable thereafter as long as the facility remains in operation.
