    Class III Permit

    What is the Class III Permit used for?

    The Class III permit is needed for construction within non-tidal canals or areas under the direct control of Miami-Dade County, such as canal rights-of-way, canal maintenance easements and reservations.


    Why is the Class III Permit necessary?

    The Class III permit is needed to protect the access to and maintain control over the canal system for water management and flood protection purposes.


    What other permits are needed for the Class III Permit before I can start work?

    Zoning approval from a local municipality or Miami-Dade County (if you are in unincorporated Miami-Dade) is required prior to construction activity. Depending on the features of each project, a Class IV permit may be required.
