The goal of this program is to reduce harmful emissions of ozone-depleting compounds (ODCs) including chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) from the environment. Recent scientific studies indicate that these compounds destroy the stratospheric ozone layer that protects earth's inhabitants from dangerous levels of ultraviolet radiation.
This program, specified under section 24-41.11 of Miami-Dade County's Environmental Code, regulates the use, sale, purchase and distribution of ODCs to certain users and distributors, and restricts their uses in some manufacturing processes. Facilities or individuals utilizing refrigerants and other ozone depleting compounds may require an APCF permit.
