Description: A moderate-growing evergreen tree with a dense, broad canopy. Edible strawberry-red fruit ripen from Mid-May to early July. Fruit need to ripen on the tree for best flavor. Remove peel to eat.
Size: Medium to large (20 - 35 ft height)
Location: Plant at least 30 feet from power lines and 16-22 feet from your house. Full sun with well-drained soil.
Salt tolerance: Low
Watering: Water during planting and for one year thereafter (see watering schedule in "Dig In Miami-Dade County" booklet). May need to water during fruiting if under drought conditions.
Fertilization: Do not fertilize until 6 months after planting. Call 305-248-3311 ext.228 for fertilizing information specific to your tree.
Pruning: Wait one year to prune. If staked, remove after 6 months.
