Examinations for Contractors and Tradesmen

Plan ahead - the deadline to apply to take an examination takes approximately four to six weeks prior to the exam date.

Examinations for certificates of competency and eligibility are offered once a month. The exams are open book and the required books for each exam category can be obtained by contacting Gainesville Independent Testing Services, LLC at 1-800-997-2129.

Exams are offered in English or Spanish and special accommodations can be made for those who have disabilities.

On the day of the exam our exam provider will assign you a Personal Identification Number which you can use to access their dial-in examination results system. After taking one of our examinations, it generally takes three more days before your score is posted.

Generally, two weeks after the exam you will receive a grading report from the exam provider (Gainesville Independent Testing Service, LLC) indicating your grade. If you passed the exam, you must come into the office between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday thru Friday to pick up your license card. If you are not satisfied with your exam score, you may request a review from the Examination Company. There is a small fee associated with the review.
