Residential Regulation

Miami-Dade County has rules that regulate many items, including zoning standards, graffiti, and  environmental nuisances. These laws assist in keeping neighborhoods throughout Miami-Dade County safe and enjoyable for all of their residents.

The Department of Permitting, Environment and Regulatory Affairs job is to enforce many of these regulations, under the general categories listed to the right.

Permitting, Environment and Regulatory Affairs staff has been cross-trained to address multiple Miami-Dade County code violations. This change makes Miami-Dade County more effective and responsive to your community’s needs. 

It should be noted that some specialized codes pertaining to the environment, illegal dumping and other solid waste concerns, and unsafe structures are enforced by other Miami-Dade County entities such as Public Works and Waste Management. When you report violations of this type to the Permitting, Environment and Regulatory Affairs, our staff will forward these specialized cases to the appropriate department for action.
