    What are the qualifications to receive a Dial-A-Life Program cell phone?

    You qualify to receive a DAL cell phone if you are a domestic violence victim, elderly, disabled or low-income resident or families with at-risk or disabled children of Miami-Dade County.


    How do I receive a DAL Program cell phone?
    You may call (305) 375-DIAL to obtain a program telephone or you may complete our online request form

    Is there a cost associated with obtaining a Dial-A-Life Program phone?

    No, there is no cost associated with obtaining a program telephone.


    How do I receive additional information on the DAL program?

    You may call (305) 375-DIAL to obtain additional information on the program.


    Can I make calls to phone numbers other than 9-1-1?

    No, there is no service connection to the phone. The phone is provided to only call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency.


    Will I be able to receive incoming calls on the phone?
    No, since there is no service provided to the phone, you will not be able to receive incoming calls.

    When I receive the phone is it charged or do I need to charge the phone prior to using it?

    When you receive the phone, the package contains a phone, charger, battery and instructions to use the phone. The phone has been tested and charged at the time of packaging, but you will be instructed to charge the phone prior to using it to ensure that it is fully charged for your use in case of emergency.


    Are dialing instructions included with the phone?

    Yes, general dialing instructions are included with each phone. The instructions are available in EnglishSpanish and Creole languages (PDF).


    How will emergency assistance be able to find me?
    Make note of your surroundings, and in a calm manner, inform the emergency assistance operator of your location.  If possible, and you are in a safe location, stay in the location you are calling from.
