(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Homeowners facing foreclosure are invited to attend Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan's Foreclosure Prevention & Homebuyers' Assistance Clinic on Saturday, June 4, 2011. The free event will be held at the Smith Conference Center at Florida Memorial University, 15800 NW 42nd Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Miami-Dade Housing Finance Authority and Miami-Dade Affordable Housing Foundation, Inc. partnered with Commissioner Jordan in organizing the event.
Homeowners are encouraged to come to the clinic and speak with their lenders about ways they can save their property from foreclosure. Participating banks will not only discuss foreclosure prevention, but also advise attendees in default counseling, delinquency procedure, understanding your options, loss mitigation, and anticipated lender sessions. Homeowners are asked to bring copies of documentation showing bank statements, mortgage documents, default notices, most recent income tax returns and W-2 forms, and any other paperwork that shows proof of financial hardship.
"This clinic will allow property owners to meet face-to-face with their lenders to discuss and potentially work out any problems with their mortgage," said Commissioner Jordan. "While facing foreclosure is worrisome and difficult, it is important for homeowners to know the process in order to prevent it from happening to them."
Representatives from Bank of America, CHASE, OCWEN, and Wells Fargo / Wachovia will be available to answer homeowners' questions and in some cases offer on-site loan modifications. In addition, attorneys will be on hand to provide legal advice. For more information, please contact Commissioner Jordan's office at 305-375-5694.
