Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan invites residents to a tree planting event to enhance neighborhood in District 1


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
In order to beautify the neighborhood and enhance the community, Commissioner Jordan, along with the Miami Dade Public Works Department, Citizens for a Better South Florida and Greater Miami Services Corp, have joined efforts to plant urban greenery within District 1 during a day of service event.

Residents of District 1 will come out to the corner of N.W. 13th Avenue and 145th street and participate in the tree and flower planting ceremony.

"I am honored to be able to develop projects that will not only beautify, but also promote community spirit within our neighborhoods," said Commissioner Jordan.

Citizens for a Better South Florida educates local communities within the urban neighborhoods about the benefits of South Florida native trees and natural habitats. The Greater Miami Service Corps is one of the original eleven youth service corps in the United States and transform the lives of young people through education and service activities.
