Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan is encouraging the community to buy locally produced goods in an effort to support the county’s agricultural businesses by attending a Farmers’ Market at North Pointe YMCA Family Center, 7351 NW 186 Street on Saturday, January 26, 2013. From 9 a.m. to noon, residents can get their pick of the freshest produce from a variety of growers and farmers.
Last June, Commissioner Jordan sponsored the first Farmers’ Market at North Pointe YMCA, intended to boost the local economy by having goods produced by Miami-Dade businesses. Hundreds of residents supported the event.
“Last year a steady stream of people squeezed, smelled and sampled fruits and vegetables at the first farmers’ market,” said Commissioner Jordan. “I encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity to support local businesses and enjoy produce from our own backyard.”
