Commissioner Jordan and Mayor of Miami Gardens to hold press conference regarding Sun Life Stadium referendum

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan and City of Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert will hold a press conference regarding the upcoming referendum that will be put to voters. The countywide vote, which is crucial to the constituency of both elected officials, could provide an economic fusion into an area that desperately needs employment opportunities. The press conference will be held at noon, on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Center Complex, 3000 N.W. 199 Street, in Miami Gardens.

“We’ve heard arguments on both sides of this issue,” said Commissioner Jordan. “But the reality is we’ve got to look ahead and determine if this is good for Greater Miami, not just in the coming months, but for years to come.”

“I am looking forward to the residents of Miami-Dade County having an opportunity to weigh-in on this very important issue. The deciding factor for me will be in the details. It must be a balanced approach that takes into consideration the needs of county residents and this project’s economic viability.”
