Chairman Gilbert and American Airlines provide exposure to aviation careers for Carol City Middle School

MIAMI-DADE – Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert, III will speak to students about career pathways in the aviation industry with American Airlines on May 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Carol City Middle School, 3737 NW 188th St., Miami Gardens, FL 33055.

Chairman Gilbert has partnered with American Airlines, the world’s largest airline and a leading service carrier at Miami International Airport (MIA), to educate youth on the steps they can take to enter the aviation industry. Nearly 300 students at Carol City Middle School will learn about the fields of aviation and the opportunities that exist for a high-earning career as an airline pilot, aviation maintenance technician, and flight attendant from American Airlines professionals.

The event will feature representatives from the American Airlines Cadet Academy, a first-of-its-kind program that provides aspiring pilots with the training, financing and mentorship opportunities needed to become professional aviators at one of American’s wholly owned regional carriers – Envoy, PSA or Piedmont – and eventually, American. The program’s mission is to bridge the gap between a future pilot’s dreams and reality by connecting prospective pilots with financing opportunities for flight school. The training program also offers the resources and support needed to enter the decorated yet demanding profession.

Raising awareness among youth of the potential for employment in the aviation sector is essential to building the future of the workforce.

Career Day will take place in the school’s auditorium. All attendees must sign-in and provide a picture ID for entry.
