No waiting by the phone for this fancy-free set.  Senior citizens in District 1 came out to Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan’s 3rd Annual Valentine Hop to have a great time. The commissioner (pictured above) invited more than 300 seniors clad in red and white, from adult living facilities and other organizations, for dinner, music, and dancing on Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Landmark Auditorium. The event was free for all participants.

Live music was provided by the Miami House Rockers, who played tunes by Bobbie Blue Bland. The seniors also danced to songs like “Funny Valentine” and “The Electric Slide”. Door prizes were given away, with several local business providing coupons and gift certificates as event goodies.  The commissioner provided free transportation to many of the seniors who attended.

“I have the best times at these events,” said Commissioner Jordan. “Everyone truly has a wonderful time.  It’s the music they love and their friends.”
