(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Miami-Dade District 1 residents with questions about the County's budget proposed by Mayor Carlos Alvarez can now contact Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan's Budget Hotline at 305-375-1689. The hotline will feature a recorded message from Commissioner Jordan with an explanation of the budget process and her position on the budget recommendations.
"Since the proposal's release, my office has been inundated with calls from concerned residents and employees asking about possible cuts," said Commissioner Jordan. "What I'd like to emphasize to residents is that the County Commission is still considering everything and will discuss ways we can face this budget shortfall in September. Until then, this hotline will serve as an informational tool for all residents who have questions."
Commissioner Jordan is encouraging hotline callers to leave a message with any further inquiries and concerns for her consideration during the budget process. Additionally, Commissioner Jordan will host a Community Budget Meeting on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at North Dade Regional Library, 2455 NW 183 Street, in Miami Gardens at 6 p.m. to allow residents to speak openly about the budget process.
Commission budget hearings are tentatively scheduled for September 3 and September 17, 2009.
