(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- On Saturday, January 29, 2011, Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan was honored and served as a keynote speaker at the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.’s (NCBW 100) Women’s Empowerment Conference. The event, held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Doral, focused on women breaking barriers and serving in leadership positions. Commissioner Jordan was asked to speak about her experience in a leadership role as the representative of Miami-Dade’s District 1. She was also awarded by the organization for her work within the community.
“It’s certainly an honor that the National Coalition of 100 Black Women would consider me a positive role model for its members,” said Commissioner Jordan. “I will continue to advocate for women’s rights and opportunities throughout Miami-Dade.”
