Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan Announces Grant Opportunities for Small Businesses in District 1

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan is encouraging entrepreneurs in District 1 to apply for the Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program. Small business owners looking to improve their companies can apply for a grant worth upwards of $5,000. The monies can be allocated to purchase industry equipment or other necessities that enhance a company’s business operation.

“The Mom and Pop Grant gives small business owners an opportunity to make expenditures that don’t fall within their budgets,” said Commissioner Jordan. “In most cases, these funds allow companies to upgrade their equipment to remain competitive with mid-size and larger companies.”

Applications will be available January 26, 2012 – February 8, 2012. Completed applications will be accepted from February 9 - February 17, 2012. All applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m., on Friday, February 17, 2012.  Applications are available at:

Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan’s District Office
2780 NW 167 Street
Miami Gardens, FL 33056
Attn: Larry Gardner
Neighbors And Neighbors Association (NANA)
180 NW 62 Street

A mandatory information/workshop meeting explaining the requirements and application process will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at 6:00p.m., at the North Dade Regional Library, 2455 NW 183 Street. Applicants are requested to be prompt.
