(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan met with residents of the Ives Estate Homeowners Association Monday night to calm their fears and address questions regarding the Champion Lakes Development. Formerly known as Williams Island Golf Course, new plans are on the drawing board that will revamp that landscape along Northeast Ives Dairy Road eastward to I-95.
“I have received numerous calls from residents in the California Club area who were concerned about promises that have been made in relation to this vast piece of property,” said Commissioner Jordan. “As Commissioner of this District, it is imperative that I bring all of the parties together to clarify any misconceptions.”
Commissioner Jordan invited the developer’s attorney William Riley, Miami-Dade Parks Director Jack Kardys and other County officials to speak to residents about future plans for Champion Lakes. Residents also wanted assurances that the developer would adhere to the original covenant.
“After all was said and done, I believe that the homeowners walked away feeling more comfortable about the development of Champion Lakes,” said Commissioner Jordan. “I will continue to work on behalf of residents to ensure that the developers hold up their end of the bargain.”
