Miami, FL –Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan re-launched her Music in the Park series recently with more than 200 jazz enthusiasts on Friday, December 7, 2012, at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex Amphitheater, in Miami Gardens. Residents enjoyed the sounds of piano legend George Tandy Sr. and celebrity saxophonist Jesse Jones, Jr.
“We were treated to several incredibly talented jazz professionals in South Florida,” said Commissioner Jordan. “My Music in the Park series is bringing culture and music to our parks, and I feel that is an important component to moving our community forward.”
Other participants included Florida Memorial University’s Presidential Jazz Band, which was led by the legendary Melton Mustafa, director of Jazz Studies at FMU.
Sponsors for the December 7th Music in the Park jazz concert included the Calder Casino and Race Course, Sunshine Jazz Organization, Miami-Dade Parks Foundation, Miami Dolphins, Miami Marlins, and the City of Miami Gardens.
